Explanation What’s next for Benjamin Netanyahu?

The story has so far: Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister serving Israel, maybe finally on the way. Eight political parties, from Yamina Right to the majority of Arabic (Arabic Union), has gathered to form a new coalition, which, if proven majority in the Knesset, Israeli Parliament, can overthrow Mr. Netanya, who has been in power since 2009.

Why is a new coalition?

Israel saw four national elections in the past two years. In all of these elections, no party won its own majority. After the poll in March 2020, Likud Party Likud Mr. Netanyahu hand in hand with Benny Gantz Centrist Blue and White to form a government of unity. But the coalition that fractious doesn’t last long.

In December, the government collapsed after the Knesset failed to provide an annual budget, encouraging Israel into another election. In the election of March 2021, voters gave a different verdict. Likud appeared as the biggest party with 30 seats from 120 Knesset members, but failed to form a coalition with the support of 61 members of parliament – majority-mark. After Netanyahu’s failure to form a government, the Reuven Rivlin president invited Yair Lapid, the leader of Yesh Atid, who was the second largest party at the Knesset at this time with 17 members, to form a government. This is TN. Lapid who collects the ‘change’ coalition.

Who is in the coalition?

In 2020, Yech Atid Mr. Lakid fought the election as part of a blue and white coalition. But when blue and white leaders Mr. Gantz decided to join the government of the unity of Mr. Netanyahu, Mr. Lapid separated. He is the opposition leader in the last Knesset. Now, Lord Lapid and Mr. Gantz came together again. Their party has 25 mks (Knesset members) together. Six other parties also joined them – The Rightwing Yamina (7 MKS), a new center of hope (6 mks); Middle Left Meretz (6MKS) and workforce (7 mks); Secular Right Yisrael Beiteinu (7 MKS); And Arab Ra’am (4 mks). The eight-party coalition has 62 mks among themselves. But one of the MKS Yamina, Amichai Chikli, has said he will not support the coalition. Who has left the coalition with the majority of razors from one seat.

What happens next?

According to the coalition agreement, leader Yamina Naftali Bennet, who was previously with a truly religious Jewish house party, could be the next prime minister. Mr. Bennet, a politician who wore Kippa who opposed the creation of an independent Palestinian state, could become the first leader to form a government with the support of the Arab party in Israel’s history. Mr. Bennet, according to the coalition pact, can remain prime minister for two years and then Lord Lapid will get the top job. But the coalition almost doesn’t have the same thing but their goals to see Mr. Netanyahu left. So it must be seen how long the coalition will take place.

By signing a unity agreement, Lord Lapid, the coalition architect, has passed the first test. But the next one is the most important – win the trust of the Knesset. The current speaker is Yariv Levin Likud. Mr. Lapid accused him of delaying voting so Mr. Netanyahu will have more time to try to persuade the right MKS (Yamina and New Hope) to vote against the Bennet-Lapid government. One Yamina MK has rebelled against Bennet’s decision. One more, Nir Orbach, has expressed doubts about the coalition. If he switches the side, the coalition will not have a majority. But two members listed together (other Arabic platforms that have 6 mks) do not decide how to choose. If they choose the ‘change’ government, it can sail regardless of the rebellion in Yamina.
