Dostum has supervised one of the largest militias in North (North Alliance) along with Ahmad Shah Masloud, which was considered Sher-e-Panjshir, who obtained a fearsome reputation in his fight against Taliban in the 1990s.

Heavy forces between the Taliban and the Afghan security forces in Kunduz on Saturdays killed at least 11 civilians and hurt 40, according to the director of health, Dr. Ehsanullah Fazli.

The struggle in the long-term conflict of Afghanistan began to intensify in May when the United States and other foreign forces began the final stage of a retreat, which will be completed before September 11.
